Manoek Klootwijk

How wonderful to meet you. My name is Manoek. I began practicing yoga when I was fourteen. For me, it was love at first sight - not because I could perfectly replicate the poses, but because I had never felt so connected to my body before. The more I practiced yoga, the more peace and space I found within myself. As a child, I often felt anxious and insecure. The transition to secondary school was challenging for me, and I increasingly noticed tension throughout my body. Some nights I barely slept, constantly worrying about the day's events and what tomorrow might bring. I started experiencing panic attacks and seemed to be stuck in a constant 'fight or flight' mode.

During this period, yoga proved to be my anchor: for a moment, I could find some relief from tension on my mat.

After completing my HAVO diploma (comparable to A-levels), I was overwhelmed by burnout combined with depression. This was an intense period for me, but also one of significant learning. I started working with an energetic coach who helped me examine the deeper layers, because burnout doesn't just appear out of nowhere. It creeps in slowly, just as it takes time to recover from it.

I'll never claim that yoga has 'healed' me or that there's no tension present in my body or mind today. The difference is that I now have the tools to cope with it, being the observer of the ebb and flow of emotions, thoughts, and patterns.

I followed my heart - despite skeptical questions from those around me - and after secondary school, I began my yoga teacher training. I now have 3 years of experience teaching this beautiful practice that originated in India centuries ago. I've specialized in Hatha yoga, Yin yoga, and Yoga Nidra.

In 2021, I obtained my Reiki 1 certificate. My own positive experiences with energetic sessions motivated this decision, along with always having been an empathetic person and feeling called to help others since childhood. In 2022, I completed my Reiki 2 certification.

In my studio, I can share my passion for yoga, wellbeing, and connection (with nature) with those around me.

I've since completed the "Trauma-Informed Training for Yoga Teachers" and a 14-week training as a "Women's Circle Facilitator." I've gained extensive knowledge about the female body, the nervous system, and how to connect with our inner power!
